Spiral Wound gaskets are one of the most respected and recognizable gaskets in the industry. Since its inception in 1912, it has become a staple in a variety of services, from nuclear powered aircraft carriers, to petrochemical plants. Many manufacturers currently fabricate their own spiral wound gaskets, with the majority specifying ASME B16.20 guidelines. However, some have deviated from the standard to create a design that is marketed as a ‘low-stress’ alternative.
